The Wisconsin Wheelchair Sports Association works to provide sports activities to wheelchair users across the state. We sponsor bowling, fishing, basketball, skiing, and other sports activities that help to improve the spirit, attitude, and quality of life for people who are required to use a wheelchair.

August 2008 through May 2009. Bowling League and free bowling for kids,

Free bowling for wheelchair users;

WWSA co-sponsors a bowling league at AMF Bowlero in Wauwatosa on Friday nites during the fall and winter. Sign up to bowl as a substitute or you can join as a regular league member. The first 4 nights are free for new wheelchair bowlers in the league. Even if you want to bowl once a month or so, you are encouraged to come out and bowl with us. Able-bodied bowlers are allowed to bowl also, bring along a friend or spouse.

We also sponsor free bowling for kids during the year, with bowling, food and beverages paid for by WWSA. Check the calendar during the year or email us to get on a mailing list for dates and times.

MONTHLY TEXAS HOLD-EM TOURNAMENTS

Second Sunday of the Month

No Limit Texas Hold-em Tournament $20 entry fee. We pay out 75% of the entry fee and give cash prizes for 20% of the field. There is a $10 rebuy if you bust out before the 1st hour is up.

25% of the prize money goes to fund our wheelchair events.

Second Sunday of the month at The Nice Ash Cigar Bar, Waukesha. Next game;

April, 2009; Date to be Announced, 23rd Annual Bowling Bash

The Annual “Badger Bowling Bash:, a bowling event where able bodied people bowl from a wheelchair.

 

The purpose of the event is to help raise funds to support wheelchair sports at the local, regional and national levels, and more importantly, to promote public awareness that a person confined to a wheelchair can compete in all aspects of everyday life, be productive, and to show this in a proactive way by having able bodied persons bowl from a wheelchair.

 

FORMAT - 5 Person Teams

- 3 Divisions: Men’s, Women’s and Mixed

- $200.00 Entry Fee per Team

- $40.00 Entry Fee per person (bowlers without a full team will be paired with other individuals)

- DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE, as we are a 501(3) tax exempt, non-profit organization

- 3 Games (all to be bowled from a wheelchair). All bowlers will receive strikes in the 3rd, 6th

and 9th frames. Wheelchairs will be provided.

 

BENEFITS: Free – 3 pitchers of beer or soda, per team, during bowling.

Free – beer, soda and food in the banquet room after bowling.

Free – T shirt for each participant

June, 2009; Date to be Announced, 5th Annual Art Lepp Memorial Lake Michigan Fishing Event

Sign up for a half day of Free Fishing on Lake Michigan in a charter fishing boat. Three wheelchairs per charter boat, and companions are welcome as space allows. A $20 reservation fee is required to hold your reservation, which will be refunded when you show up for the fishing event. All other costs are covered by WWSA.
